The Rest of the Story

I know that all God does will last forever; there is no adding to it or taking from it. God works so that people will be in awe of HIM Ecc 3:14 (HCSB)

When "LIN" became a Christian, her outlook on life changed greatly as she found hope and strength to care for her elderly mother. She was anxious to share her faith with her family members, so we gave her a copy of a movie called Good News to show her mother.

Watching the movie, the mother's eyes grew wide. She suddenly exclaimed, "I have heard this story before! When I was a very young girl, a foreigner came into our village and told us the story of the Most High God who created the heavens, the earth, and everything on the earth. He came back another time and told us about a flood that covered the entire earth."

Evidently a foreign missionary during the 1940's brought the Gospel story to her village, but then disappeared forever. The timetable of his visit coincided with the civil war, which resulted in foreigners being expelled from the country.

The elderly mother said, "But the foreigner never told me that God had a SON!" At last she had heard the rest of the story and immediately expressed her desire to follow Christ. After 75 years of waiting, this mother joyfully came to faith in Jesus.

Seeds sown by one of the faithful sprouted that day. He is faithful.

Thankful Thursday

Lynn is hosting Thankful Thursfdays and asking us to count our blessings no matter what we are going through HA! THAT I CAN DO :)


I am thankful for my son who decides to surprise me and sneaks in and puts on his suit, picks some flowers, and came to me at my chair and asked if I would go dance with him under the moonlight on the back porch *sniff sniff* ISNT THAT SWEET

I am thankful that when I am going through trials like these I can turn on my computer and see a list of comments from you all with NOTHING BUT ENCOURAGEMENT!! THANKYOU ALL SOOOO MUCH

I am thankful for my friends who are bringing me lunch and sitting with me today so that they can push the button on my machine from cold to hot (every 30 min!) and we are watching a chick flick while it is nothing but gloomy outside it is raining sunshine in my room today :)

I am thankful that when I am down and discouraged with this stuff I can sit with my Heavenly Father and share my heart and the Holy Spirit washes over me with Peace that passes ALL understanding!

SETBACKS........ROADBLOCKS......CHANGE OF PLANS

What do we do when what we thought was suppose to happen ~ DOESN'T?? This seems to be the theme in the McGhee household this week. Whether it be school plans, work or recovering from this surgery. I was well on my way, doing my exercises, moving around, getting back in the groove and on the day before I was released to DRIVE again I injured myself by using my exercise chair and going a bit too out of range. SOOOO, I am back to square 1. NO activity, doing heat then cold therapy every 30 min. and unfortunately back to the really strong pain meds. I HATE them!!

I KNOW God is with us, and in ALL things GOD works good for those who love HIM and are called according to HIS purpose! EVEN this~ so we will rest in HIM and glorify HIM as we CHOOSE to NOT let these setbacks bring frustration but we have JOY in the midst of our circumstances!

FOR TODAY...October 6th

Outside my window... cool, beautiful and sunny for the first time in a long while! :)

I am thinking... How precious Clif and Charlotte are and how very much I appreciate their help! OH YA~ Happy Birthday Mrs. Charlotte ~ I know it was yesterday and I am sure you were spoiled rotten :) You DESERVE IT!!!!

I am thankful for..My Husband for being so kind and tender with our children yet strong when disciplining them. I tend to cave sometimes and He doesn't.

I am wearing...black comfy yoga pants and a hoodie with my sling :)

I am remembering... just how hard being a teenager truly is! Hang in there Jen ~ This too shall pass sweetie

I am hoping...that I didn't do any damage exercising my arm yesterday and waiting on the Dr to call!

Noticing that... I truly enjoy the seasons. I used to think I wanted summer all the time but as I get older I really enjoy the cool weather .....cool NOT COLD ;)

Fun and Thanks

This weekend my DH and son were able to go on a Father/Son retreat. They had a WONDERFUL joy filled time doing all the "guy things" like flying on the Zip line, fishing, canoeing, playing frisbee, richochet ball, screamer (the overall favorite!) they shot bow and arrow and rifles too and had some special time of praise and worship and great teaching too. My son came home telling me how Studly and awesome his daddy is :) I have to tell you a funny. You know my husband just spent the whole week caring for me and I think he was looking forward to at least sleeping through the night.....so they get to their cabin and settle in for the night and fall asleep. They were soon awakened by the young boy in the room (the beds were petitioned off) YELLING.....STOP SNORING! DADDY TELL HIM TO STOP SNORING!!! OOOOOHHHH my poor DH!!! He felt awful and said he was soooo conscious of his snoring that he barely slept at all. Poor baby! But he didn't let this keep him from having fun with Jantz! Here are some pics of them having fun

Well, while they were having a great time bonding My mom and Jen were here continuing to take care of me. We had a good time chillaxin and watchin movies. Mom made a comment something like this "Oh! I am just oozing with love right now!" I said Oh really? I am hoping you remember that in the middle of the night when I wake you up to help me go to the bathroom. LOL
You see, I have slept in a recliner since my surgery and I am unable to put the foot part down or the lever because it is on the right side of my recliner and wouldn't you know, it is my right arm that had the surgery so if I need to get up and go the restroom in the middle of the night someone has to help me up and also carry the ice machine (it's connected to my body) along with me so the cords reach along with me.....It is quite the ordeal if you get the picture. Well let's just say it is like having a new born because I go to the rest room about every two hours!!! HEY...I DRINK ALOT OF WATER ~ what can I say?
My Mom was amazing, such a trooper. She didn't complain, just got up and helped and loved me everytime she put me back in the chair! My nana (my moms mom) was a nurse when she was still here with us and was always the one who would come here and stay with any of us when we were sick. My Nana was smiling down on us and would be sooo proud of my mom and my daughter. Jenna has the patience and love like no other 17 year old I have ever known! She has gone far above and beyond in helping me this past week but this weekend shined like no other. I finally made the turn on Saturday morning and started having not near the pain I have been Praise God! Anyway, we had a wonderful girls weekend and I just have to thankyou MOM and JEN for taking such wonderful care of me and for all the laughs!






and Honey, I am sooo glad you were able to go and have a special time with Jantz. God is sooo good to give you two this time together and for Jantz to see more and more what a wonderful daddy he has here on Earth and His Eternal Daddy as well! Thankyou for loving and caring for me and our family the way you do! We are all so blessed!

"The Unburned Bible"


Living in a war zone in a North African country "Omar" and his family relied on food distributions to live One day, national believers distributed food bags with Bibles in them. Omar's sister received one of these Bibles. When he found her reading it. Omar was enraged. He grabbed the book and slapped her face. Determined to destroy the Bible, he burned it.

That night, Omar had a disturbing dream. In his dream, he saw shining hands take the ashes of the burned Bible and form it into its orginal state. The he heard these words in his own language. "This is MY WORD. I am the ONE who sent this book to your family so that they might be saved." Omar jumped out of his bed, crying, and shouting. His shouts woke his family, so he told them about the dream. Frantic, he ran to the place where he had burned the Bible. Amazingly, he found the Bible lying on top of the ashes, unburned, clean, and new.

Omar's sister told him to go to the Bible distributors and ask them what to do next. Omar found them, and they told him about Jesus. He accepted Christ immediately and then reported everything he had learned to his family. I am so thankful for the many ways that Jesus reveals Himself to those He is drawing to Himself.

God of Miracles, You Astound me, You can part a sea, turn water into wine, and even restore your written Word from ashes. May Omar and His family bring you glory by proclaiming Your works throughout their country.

Book Review

Have you ever read the last page of your book and wished there were more pages to be turned? Me too! That's how I was with "Voices of the Faithful Vol 2."

This 366 daily devotional shares about more than over 300 Missionaries who serve all around the world and the people to whom they are allowed the privelege of serving. Some share the joys of watching people come to know and accept Christ after generations before them have planted seeds or served, but now these are the ones to lead them in that prayer that all believers long to do with Gods children/people. The Salvation Prayer. You will find heartbreak as well, reading how many serve day in and day out, and yet these people turn back to the ways of their country or nations governmental rules because of fear. One of my favorite months of devotionals was on "divine appointments" knowing that God places you right where He wants you to be and allows you to accomplish His specific will for that specific moment IF we will listen and obey to what He is asking us to do and not allow any obstacles to keep us from fulfilling that Divine task.

Anyone looking for a devotional this is a must. Anyone who has a heart for Missionaries this book is an absolute must. Anyone who needs a spark to encourage or challenge you in your walk, add this to your collection! Anyone think you aren't good enough to do those things God is asking you then read this book. You will find everyday people who struggle with their own flesh, fear, pride, etc just like you and me yet they surrender and find that serving doesn't have any qualifications other than a willing and humble heart. God did amazing work through 12 other men who weren't qualified in their minds either but we all know what HE did through them don't we!

There is one thing I would like to share. Beth Moore doesn't play the role in this 2nd volume that she did in the first. Kim Davis has taken her place and does a fantastic job. She was in the first volume as well but it is in this volume that we get to see more of Kim.

a new note from Dad

today has been a rough day and I am not sure why, just lots of pain so I have just had the ice machine on most of the day and taking it easy. I checked my Dads facebook page and saw he has a new note and since you all are mentioned specifically I wanted to get it up since some of you will be traveling tomorrow ;) love you Mary.

I can't tell you how much it means to me that you all took the time and sent Dad a note or an encouraging word and as you can see it meant so much to him as well. Thankyou for being living breathing examples of the Body of Christ and showing Dad what that looks like authentically



The Tremors

I went into the office four days this week and would have made it five but I was too tired and didn’t feel well on Friday. I think four out-of-five is pretty good for the first week back.

The only medical work that was performed this week was some lab work to insure the blood thinner (Coumadin) is at the right level. I think this process will take place for the rest of my life. Once they get the level stabilized, the test will occur once a month – rather than weekly.

Mayo did set one date that is important. On Thursday, October 15, they will perform a CT Scan on my chest and abdomen. This scan will show how effective the radiation and chemotherapy treatments were and give some idea of what comes next. I have an appointment on Friday, October 16, with my oncologist to review the results of the CT Scan. The appointment with my oncologist will reveal where I am.

As you can see, not much took place this week and very little is planned for the next couple of weeks. It’s really pretty nice to not have any treatments or big tests. I’m enjoying the break.

I’m only taking three medications that are related to the cancer: Coumadin (which I already mentioned, Decadron (a steroid), and Hydrocodone (a liquid pain reliever which I am taking for my throat). The Coumadin and Hydocodone are tolerable but the Decadron is one medication I can do without.

When I was drinking, I frequently woke up with the tremors (where my hands shake uncontrollably). More than once, I spent the night in a motel because I traveled for the company I was working for .I frequently drank the nights I traveled. I often woke up with a hangover..The hangovers were bad enough, but the most embarrassing time was when I had to check out of the hotel and I had to sign the credit card statement. I often had the tremors so badly I couldn’t stop my hand from shaking and I couldn’t sign my name.

I still remember how embarrassed I was that I had to stand in front of the check-out clerk and I had the shakes so badly that I couldn’t steady the pen or move it to write my name.

The tremors were a strange phenomenon for me. I remember my hands shaking since I was in elementary school. Of course, I had the tremors almost all of the time I was drinking but the minute I stopped drinking they went away – a bit of a miracle.

I haven’t dealt with the tremors for over 31 years. Then this disease came along and my doctor prescribed Decadron. The tremors are a side-effect of taking Decadron and they are back and stronger than ever. As a result, I cannot sign my name so that it is legible. Another problem came up last week when Barbie and I went to eat sushi. I couldn’t use the chopsticks because I couldn’t g et my hand steady enough to pick up the fish. I had to eat sushi with a fork – which was almost criminal! Even with a fork, I had a difficult time.

And you should watch me try to land my mouse on a location on the screen. I have to make about five passes of my mouse over the location that I want. It takes me five times longer to do anything.

So, am I complaining? It definitely sounds like it. Do you remember when I first got this disease and I said I wasn’t going to let the small stuff bother me. I have too many important things to deal with. Well, that didn’t last very long; did it?

In the grand scheme of things, the tremors really don’t amount to much. They are a little embarrassing, but I can live with that. They are inconvenient, but I can live with that too. They cause me to take longer than normal to do some things, but I can live with that too.

Taking the Decadron won’t last forever – probably no more than two months. I’ll just tolerate the tremors and wait for the day when I quit taking the Decadron.
