Making Mistakes

Today I thought I would share from my Joyce Meyer Devotional! Joyce tells it like it is LOL and I, for one, LOVE THAT! Thought this devo would be perfect for Word filled Wednesday

BE A RISK TAKER!

MATTHEW 25:16-18 reads ~ He who received the five talents went at once and traded wit them, and he gained five talents more. And likewise he who had received two talents--he also gained two talents more. But he who had received the one talent went and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money.

When Jim Burke became the head of a new products division at Johnson&Johnson, one of his first projects was the development of a children's chest rub. The project failed miserably, and Burke expected that he would be fired. When he was called in to see the chairman of the board, however, he was met with a surprising reception.
"Are you the one who just cost me all that money?" asked Robert Wood Johnson. "Well, I just want to congratulate you. If you are making mistakes, that means you are taking risks, and we won't grow unless you take risks." Some years later, when Burke himself became chairman of Johnson&Johnson, he continued to spread the word.
Dont' be afraid of making mistakes. You will never succeed without making mistakes and possibly many of them. Making mistakes is something we do as human beings, but we are still God's children, and He has a good plan for our lives. He is long-suffering, plenteous in mercy, and filled with loving kindness.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Lord, help me to use the talents YOU have given me and to not be afraid of making mistakes. Give me wisdom on how to be the best I can be for YOU. Amen

What about you? Can you remember a time you made a mistake and God helped you to learn from it??

Every morning Brian fills his Tervis Tumbler w/tea and out the door he goes. One morning about 3 weeks ago, he set his cup on the back of his truck, got distracted, and drove off. When he realized what he had done, he knew ~ it was gone! To say he was sad would be quite the understatement! He looked and looked for his cup everywhere! You would have thought it was a lost dog or something LOL! Guess what he got from the kids for his birthday..... A NEW TERVIS TUMBLER....same color. same size! He was THRILLED!
It's the little things in life isn't it!

Our oldest, Krista, and our Precious Grandbabies, brought us sooo many smiles and Oh THE LAUGHTER!! ♥ them so much!

My Beautiful Mom and my sweet grandson

Happy Birthday Papa! Happy Birthday Honey! We all love you so very much! You are Gods gift to each one of us. Thank you for loving God first and for loving, caring, providing and leading us! We are so blessed by you and your love.

Spiritual Sundays ~ Weird

I LOVE my Pastor, Craig Groeschel. He is an amazing teacher of Gods Word. He is also a Very Anointed Author! Some of his books include Chazown, The Christian Atheist, and his most Recent book, titled "Weird. Because Normal Isn't Working."

We are in the middle of this series "Weird. Because Normal Isn't Working" and as usual, I am so appreciative of Pastor Craigs ability to teach.

This week Craig presented a question to all of us.....

"What is your bowl of Stew?"

Weird huh! He is referring to Genesis 25:29-32 when Esau gave up his birthright to his brother Jacob for a bowl of stew!
If you are like me, you may think "Who in their right mind would seriously give up their birthright for a bowl of stew?" You know those questions you are saving up for Heaven? This is definitely one I will be asking. I mean, seriously, How Stupid is that? Ahem, let's get back the Stew :) Unfortunately, many Normal people actually do this very thing on a daily basis. Craig shared some examples of how we are "Trading the Ultimate for the Immediate."

Some trade purchasing those shoes that go with that purse and of course, the hat too (the immediate) in for having Financial Freedom, and the peace that comes with that. This would/could possibly allow us to be so very generous, going above and beyond in our tithe. (the Ultimate)

Some trade in immediate gratification with food, satisfying our flesh instead of the having self control. The Ultimate, being blessed with a healthy and active lifestyle and treating our bodies as the temple God says they are.

For some, The Immediate is giving in to Lustful desires. Allowing the eyes to look upon someone other than their spouse, or even worse seeking sites on the computer that are sinful and addictive. This is clearly Trading the Ultimate for the Immediate!

I have never really considered how many of us are just like Esau. Trading the Ultimate for the Immediate. Taking that soup and satisfying our Flesh. We want what we want NOW ... NOT LATER! At times we even think, "Gosh, if I can't have that NOW, I am going to DIE!" I know it has been said we live in a Microwave world...Fast food, immediate replies via text messaging or emails.
We are sooo accustomed to "The immediate" but as is always the case with the LORD, HIS WAYS are NOT Our Ways!

We must renew our minds, change our thoughts and ways. Weird people Know.... "LATER is often better than NOW"

Proverbs 16:32 NLT tell us:

"Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city"

We must Seek God until Gods desires become our own desires! Not allowing our sinful nature to rule and reign our desires but to allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in all we do! Galatians 5:16-17 NLT says:

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves. "The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires.

Soo....What is your bowl of Stew?

Monday's Musings

You ever have one of those weekends that flies by so quickly that you can't believe it really even came ?? Well, this weekend, we had one of those!

My daughter had her senior pictures this weekend and she did awesome, despite the fact that the wind was an absolute battle! She had requested some pictures taken in water so our photographer took us to one of our local lakes and let me just tell you...The wind was blowing like crazy. Her assistant and myself were standing in the water (which was freezing by the way LOL) holding a Shield, to keep Jenna from squinting from the sunshine and WOW!! It took every single bit of body strength we had! Then she took us a an open field and jenna took some gorgeous shots. These pics were very special because she wore My Daddy's cowboy hat. When he passed away that was something Jenna wanted of his so to see these pics just brought tears to my eyes. The next place was a cool little part of town with some awesome architecture and Jenna put on her Beautiful Prom Dress and get this....her pink hi-tops! She was DARLING!!! I can't wait to show you guys these pics!!

Church was another 'Weird" week! And that's a good thing and a compliment! Pastor Craig's new book "Weird, because normal isn't working" is available for all of those who are interested! It has been awesome so far!

One of my most dreaded household tasks is changing out closets from winter to summer....but I did it!! I don't enjoy it but I am ALWAYS SOOO HAPPY when it is complete!!! Note: These pics are taken from the Internet and are NOT my closet :) They do however, reflect the chaos it was in and now it is in order!! WOOHOO!

This week I will be reviewing some really awesome books next week on my book blog! Come over and check them out if you want!!

Spiritual Sundays ~ Soul Surfer

I love going to the movies! So when a movie comes out that we can go to as a family, well...I am in heaven. Friday is the opening day for the Movie~ Soul Surfer, the true story of Bethany Hamilton. In 2003, Bethany was attacked by a tiger shark and lost her arm. The Lord has walked her and her family through this tragedy and they are bringing glory to HIM through it all! As believers I love to support films like these and have already heard good reviews via Friends Facebook Status'.

I know how many come to Spiritual Sundays and just thought this was a great way to spread the news to support this film! Below is the interview with Bethany and how God brought her through this very difficult time!

NOTE:
I am not sure why this is posting the video twice but you only need to watch one...they are exactly the same & not a continuation :)
p.s. I know this is a tad long but I promise it is worth it!

Thankyou Charlotte and Ginger for bringing us together week after week allowing us to encourage one another and share the Love and Hope of Christ with all of those HE leads to our blogs!

Biggest Loser thoughts.....

I have shared with you all before that I am a HUGE fan of NBC'S reality show, Biggest Loser ~ No Pun Intended ;)

This Season has been, in my humble opinion, far different than any other season I have watched. One of the biggest surprises for me, and I believe a first for the show, was when 54 year old twin brothers, both of whom are police officers from Oklahoma decided that Biggest Loser was not for them. They made the choice to throw their weigh in (by eating behind clothes doors) and they were eliminated within weeks of one another. I can't even imagine having this kind of opportunity and throwing it all away! Soon after they were gone, the other contestants revealed some really ugly alliances and game playing. No doubt this game play has existed in prior seasons, but NEVER to the degree seen this season.

By far, this season has some of the heaviest contestants to date. The heaviest male is Arthur. A 34 year old stay at home dad. He weighed 646 pounds before going to the Biggest Loser but did some weight loss at home. When he weighed in for the first time at the ranch, an astounding 510 pounds.

Then there was the heaviest femaie, Courtney. A sweet 22 year old girl who met Bob (one of the trainers) at a Finale one year. She weighed over 400 pounds when she met him and she looked into his eyes and told him...."I am going to be the Biggest Loser one day" She landed a place on the Biggest Loser ranch the following season. But prior to coming she lost a 112 pounds ON HER OWN AT HOME! She weighed in for the first time @ 323.

I have experienced a myriad of emotions this season. I have thrown things at my TV, I have yelled at the contestants as if they can hear me, and last night I was a blubbering idiot at the elimination of one of the contestants. It was THE MOST HEARTBREAKING elimination I have ever seen.

A few weeks ago, Arthur was eliminated. I yelled at the contestants, I was sooo disgusted. I told my husband "this is it. I am done with this show! It's not about losing weight anymore, it's just a bunch of game play for these people. He reminded me, this is a game AND a competition ~ Arthur had to go home because he fell victim to dirty play tactics. The contestants who were voting didn't view the situation as "He is the heaviest man ever on this show and his life is literally still in danger if he doesn't continue to lose this weight" NOOOO, they got rid of him because of their "family alliances" This episode was a huge lesson in people reaping what they sow. Arthur had made a HUGE mistake a few weeks earlier and it came back to get him. I wonder though, all of those that voted him off because of their game play ~ how will they reap in their choices?

Last night found me in tears .... Courtney was automatically eliminated based on her weight loss percentage not being enough to save her. When Courtney came to be a contestant on the show, I don't recall ever seeing someone so positive, so determined, and so very precious to all of those around her. She NEVER EVER got involved in the game play. She literally inspired soo many of the other contestants and was doing an amazing job losing weight. Over the past 3 weeks though, Courtney's body hit a plateau and her weight loss started to level out. Her team member was sent home last week which meant she was the only remaining red team player. This allowed her to have her trainer all to herself. To say he worked her hard would be an understatement. He killed it and Courtney let him take her to new levels, pushing her to dig deep. When she stood upon the scale she only needed to lose 2 lbs. That's it..... 2 lbs. The scale seemed to tick FOREVER and it finally stopped and what it said broke my heart. Courtney lost 1 pound. Just 1. No one could believe it. Not her. Not the trainers. Not the other contestants.
No one. I am pretty sure if you could have seen every one across America who tuned into the Biggest Loser you would have seen every mouth on the floor and heard countless gasps.

There have only been a few times I've wanted the beg and plead for the rules to be bent for a contestant. To PLEASE allow them to stay. Arthur was one. And without a doubt, Courtney is the other. I wasn't the only one in tears. A big portion of the remaining contestants were also crying and so did a couple of the trainers. Why? Because this girl has the heart of gold. A smile that captured the hearts of many and a determination that hasn't wavered no matter what has been thrown her way.

These two contestants have been labeled as Season Favorites....They were just 2 ordinary people. Two People who were very obese, yet they both made decisions to change their behavior and ultimately save their lives. They both began their journey at home and were successful. I am certain they will continue on and reach their goal at home now. I would have liked to see them in the Final Round but I hope they know what an inspiration they have been even if they didn't win the Title of "Season 10's Biggest Loser." They played this game with integrity and character and they can hold their head up high and be soo very proud of all they have accomplished within themselves and for all of those who watched their journey to a healthy life.

I wonder..... if I was put on a National Show where camera's were on me, day in and day out, would I encourage all of those around me AND those who tuned in each week? I would like to hope so but I know One thing for certain.... it would be through the Grace of God and by the power of the Holy Spirit in me. Afterall, Through Christ ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE right :)
