It seems the Word of the week or maybe even the month would be SNOW. Some may Possibly correct me and say Blizzard. Here in Oklahoma we saw record snowfalls last Tuesday and here in my backyard we measured 24 inches of snow in a 24 hour time period. Today when we woke up what did we see?? ....yep, you guessed it MORE SNOW! Usually this would bring Joy, Squeals, or in the slightest a bit of excitement but NOT today. We are over the snow! Sooo over the snow. My husband spent the week in Florida for a business meeting and was due to arrive this afternoon. Upon arriving in Atlanta he was immediately notified his flight had been cancelled. We. were. crushed.
Both of us immediately began to pray and beg....ok PLEAD....for his return today. WIthin the hour my husband called and said he was taking a flight in about an hour and would be landing in a town about 2 1/2 hours from home. It was the only guarantee to being home today even if it meant driving part of that way. Well, I thought "I don't want him to have to rent a truck to drive home, surely I could drive to get him!!" I considered surprising him but due to the fact that the roads were already hazardous and it was snowing pretty heavily I wanted him to agree to my driving to get him. Yes. I persuaded him. Yes. I had to convince him that I would be beyond cautious and if I felt the slightest bit uncomfortable I would turn around.
We prayed. Loaded the car with plenty of blankets, water, coats, and all the "safety precautionary items imaginable" As I put the key in the ignition, I grabbed my kids hands and we prayed asking the Lord for His Protection, His Angels to encamp my car and the highway as well as their Daddy's plane to land. I have to be honest. I am not one to drive in this type of weather AT ALL! I honestly panic but I felt Gods Peace with me in such a powerful way!! Within the first few minutes of being on the road I hear Carrie Underwoods song begin to play "Jesus Take the Wheel" It was just soo precious of the Lord because not only did I feel HIS Peace around me like a blanket I just felt like this song was Gods way of saying "I am with you and I have the wheel"
We literally pulled into the airport just as my husband walked off the plane from landing. I didn't even know the name of the airport or where I was going but God did. All those years ago while I was in my Momma's womb the Lord knew this day would come and HE would lead me, direct me, and protect me.
Thank you Lord for being with me all week and for the Protection of bringing my family back together on yet another snowy day!
Thank you Charlotte and Ginger for hosting

Oh, what a beautiful testimony. PRAISE GOD!!!!!
May your family remain warm, and safe. I love you.
Beautiful post, Loren... I'm so glad that God's angels were with you all.. Driving in that weather is HORRIBLE, but I am proud of you for trying..
I know you are thrilled to have your Sweetheart home with you now.. Praise be to God.
Hugs,
Betsy
ahhh, Loren, this is a beautiful post of a family praying together asking for God's protection and then thanking Him for granting that request and bringing your husband home safely! I am so happy for you! Have a blessed weekend!
Love you!
I'm glad your husband's home and your family is reunited and safe. I love what you wrote..that the Lord knew that day...and everything would happen. That's an amazing thought. Have a fantastic weekend relaxing at home...and here...the groundhog predicted an early spring. I hope he's right on. ☺☺
God is so awesome! Thankful to Him for your safety and for return with your hubby! He is with us and He will protect us, guide us and light our path! Have a great day today!
This is a great testimony -- thanks for sharing it. I'm glad your husband got home and that you all had safe journeys. Have a great weekend.
Driving in that kind of weather is one of the reasons we're living in Phoenix. When we were in Denver, I was driving home from a cake decorating class one night, hit a patch of black ice in my Jeep and spun in a circle. I think that was the very moment I'd had enough snow and ice. So glad you made it safely. Didn't you just have to pry your fingers off of the steering wheel though? And I love that "Jesus Take the Wheel" came on the radio at just that opportune moment to give you some peace of mind!!!
Wow! I'm so glad your hubby AND you are your family are safe!
We are over all the snow, too, but we haven't had as much as you...gracious!
Oh my goodness this post brought tears to my eyes. God is an awesome God!
Blessings,
Ginger
Oh, that is so precious, Loren. Thank God for hearing and answering prayers and for His guidance, peace and protection. Blessings ~
I am so glad your family is reunited again! Snow is definitely scary. I've caught myself a few times this week complaining about the nip in the air here in San Diego but when I put on the weather channel, I realize I've got it good! I'll take 50 degrees over 5 inches any day of the week (or in your case 2 feet! WOW!)
Can't believe you drove to OKC on these streets!! Although, if it had been Dan I would of too. So glad Brian is home, I know how much we miss our guys when they travel. Dan is leaving 2 days after Shane leaves, so not looking forward to that!!
Love you
Yea! I love the happy ending. Only an ending that God could make. Love it! I am so happy you are all safe and together.
love,
Jennifer
Wow, Loren. I absolutely love this. I'm so glad you shared your heart and your adventure with us and I'm so glad your family is back together again. Let it snow. Let it snow. Let it snow. No, I guess you've had enough for this season. LOL I wouldn't mind a little snow, but definitely not as much as you've had this year.
Blessings,
Charlotte
What a lovely illustration of God's grace in action. Glad you had traveling mercies.
