Well I am happy to report that we indeed have our new boxer puppy! :) Her name is Maggie Mae and she is a doll! She is sooo smart! Our Schnorkie Tyson, is not exactly pleased with us so I am hoping they will become friends SOON! I hate that he is upset! I am soooooo thankful that the temperature has gone up ~ we had a heat wave ;) It is going to be in the 50's today and well folks ~ that is far better than the teens for potty training if ya know what I mean. Someone asked me if Maggie was hyper or calm....I said well, it depends on her mood LOL. She is feeling more and more comfortable in our home so we are seeing more of her personality and I can tell she is strongwilled to say the least.
The one area I have failed in already is the night time crate thing....she HATES being apart for even a second and if we wanted to sleep AT ALL then she was going to have to be in our bed. Seriously, the first night this is how it went.....every 20 min. she would yelp like she was being beat or was petrified ..... but because I was determined I let this go on until 1:30 in the morning and finally I caved. Last night I knew what we were in for so she only stayed in her crate for 30 min and we put her in bed with us....I don't know if maybe I should put her in the garage in the crate so that at least we couldn't hear her AS WELL but I know we are going to have to do this just like when you had your baby and they had to "cry it out" I know there is an end to it and all will be better off :) Maybe it will be better to start it over the weekend when we can sleep in if she finally relents ???
Things have been sooo busy around the house....Having to go to rehab sooo much is catching up with me...I feel so behind in everything around the house and even here on blogging. So please forgive me if I haven't visited you or commented lately ~ I feel awful and hope to catch up SOON
I start a new Bible Study tomorrow and I am soooooo EXCITED! Beth Moore, Kay Arthur and Priscilla Shirer have given us this Bible study titled Anointed, Transformed and Redeemed. I know it will be amazing as always. It is a study of David and I have done Beth's other study on David and WOW WOW WOW ~ it was amazing so I have great expectations of this one as well!! David is one of my favorite people in the bible. He is so real and his HEART....Oh to have a heart like his. He is so humble, so transparent, so repentant! HIS WORSHIP!! SIGH....Thankyou Lord for this amazing example ~ take me deeper Lord as I learn more of this godly man who loves and adores you in every way
Bless you all and may you experience HIM in a powerful way today ~ HE knows just exactly what each of you need and desire

Mercy me! I guess I'm just a mean old man. I could never go through what your going through with your dog. Charlottes the only one I want in bed with me. Now I do agree with you about David. He is my favorite too.Have a great study.
Oh new puppies, haha...and babies crying it out..remember it all TOO well....this too shall pass. The garage sounds like a good idea to me on the week-end. ENJOY...The bible study sounds great. I love studies on David too. Such a true man of God, and yet, a real man too. Have a great day. Blessings, Debbie
Aren't Puppies great? We don't use a crate at all. Our doggie hates them and she really is good while we are gone and she sleeps in Stunt Man's bed at night...it is so cute. I just can't say no to that picture of cuteness. Good luck with the crate training:)
Hugs,
Mimi
i too love David in the Bible...his heart is amazing!
Loren,
I've watched a program that teaches how to crate your dog does involve that let go and let them cry it out. They have to realize that the crate is their new comfort zone and getting used to being without. Just let it go for a couple of nights and she will stop!
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
As for your snorkie. You "must" make Maggie Mae respect him. Maggie should be made to learn gentle so she doesn't accidentally hurt him. If she learns to be gentle with him....they will become friends. If she doesn't you will have some issues. You know how big sitka is (125 pounds). From the very beginning, I made him lay down to play with trouble (10 pound toy poodle). In the beginning that meant literally being in the floor rolled around with them. It is the BEST THING I ever taught sitka. They are best buds now and it is hysterical to see them play together.
Blessings and hugs,
andrea
PS: Get tough and stick with the crate training. I messed that up with sitka and now he has separation anxiety and does not want to be left home alone. Paid dog sitters get expensive. Just trust me on this one.
I must admit, I'm glad it's you and not me raising a pup! They're precious, and such good company; but I doubt I'd have the patience you're demonstrating.
The Bible Study will, no doubt, be incredible.
Blessings,
Kathleen
So cute...Maggie was the name of our sweet lab we put to sleep a couple of months ago...I love that name.
Glad you are going to the Beth Moore Bible study! Hers are always amazing!!! If you ever felt lead you should try BSF with me...it has been so refreshing just to study the word with other ladies. But I have done several Beth Moores and WOW she is anointed with the Spirit! I have a daily devo I do with her as I do my daily business in the bathroom...:)
Enjoy your new pup and have a wonderful 1st day at Bible Study!
Congratulations on getting Maggie!!! Sounds tiring at first but I know she's gonna' be a part of beautiful memories ahead. I love David, too. We can learn so much from his heart after God. Easy on the therapy :) God bless you and keep you. Love to you sister.
Glad you were able to get the new puppy. Enjoy your study, love you so much.
Loren, I am so excited about you and Maggie Mae! I remember the crying thing in the middle of the night so vividly. We have a beagle who is 4 and she did the same thing for the first week that we had her. But she was only 6 weeks old and had just been weaned from momma and being with all of her brothers and sisters. I felt so sorry for her. But we kept her in her crate for a long time before we let her anywhere else at night. The last thing I wanted was to wake up stepping into poop or pee. LOL Anyway, she got used to it. We put stuffed animals and lots of fluffy things in with her to make her feel warm and secure.
Have fun with Maggie. I am sure she will bring so much fun to your family.
Love, Christy
I did that study and I just love the audio tapes of all these fabulous women! You will love it!
LOLOL...the first night we had Stormie home we tried the crate thing...the next few years she slept in our bed...now she sleeps on HER chair. :) Good luck! ;)
Love Beth Moore studies, and that sounds like a great one! Blessings to you my friend.
We have a dog, but she stays (and sleeps) in our partially-finished basement...down in the Man Cave, or my utility room. She's not allowed in the main part of our house for two reasons...#1-Dog hair. #2-Dog hair! ;-)
I wish we had a Bible study going on. Yours is the second Beth Moore study I've heard about this week. Women named Beth sure are gifted, aren't they?! hehe
Hugs,
Beth
Oh so thankful for the new puppy. Oh and the Bible study sounds fabulous. I may have to look into that one! Blessings my friend!
Congrats on your new doggie! That sure does bring back some old memories of trying to sleep with a new puppy. I would have to cradle our little dog back to sleep when he was little cause he just would not stop whimpering. And it was all up to me to do it cause my husband has very early mornings for work. As soon as I new it was safe to put him down, I'd gently lay him in his laundry basket turned bed. I guess you could say I was in training too for when we had kids. That's one lesson I didn't think a dog would ever teach me, but he did (kinda sorta). hahaha Good luck with that!
Please stop by the Five Moms today. There's something waiting for you :o)
I hope you'll share about that Bible study. I've heard of it but didn't know anyone who actually went through it.
Blessings,
Debbie
Hi Loren,
This is so cool, we have new puppy, a german shepherd, and her name is maggie too. I know about the training especially since it has been so cold here.
The Bible study sounds absolutely wonderful, great authors all of them. David is my favorite person of the Bible. I continue to learn great lessons from his life, thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Sue
Did you ever hear of that book "BabyWise?" :) You need to read it and insert "dog" every time it says "baby." hehe So glad you're loving Miss Maggie Mae.
