I want to break free

Today Instead of sharing my Simple Womans Daybook (which I am not sure I will continue with) I am just going to share from my heart the ramblings that are taking place.

I spoke with my Dad yesterday. He had his first round of chemo and sounded good. This was a talk about life ~ what's going on in our lives, what we did over the weekend, how are the kids instead of the status quo...".the dr said this, we are going to do that"
It was so sweet and it spoke volumes to my heart. One time this summer my dad said to me as he was leaving a message for his brother ~ there he is all caught up on what is going on. I said "Dad, people don't just want an update~ they want to hear your voice, your heart, how you are doing ~ not what is the latest report!" It breaks my heart that he doesn't know that we genuinely just care about HIM and not just the FACTS of him. Anyway when I got off the phone I just cried and thanked the Lord for the precious conversation.

It seems everything I am hearing or reading is about slowing down our lives. You know when the Lord is trying to tell you something.....that message seems to be the theme in everything you hear, read, or talk to others about. But seriously how much slower can it be? I have been DOWN for 3 weeks now and am asking the Lord what exactly that looks like?

I am going to spend the rest of the day in the kitchen....I am going to join my new friend Diana at To Everything a Season and enter her giveaway and also get some really great fall recipes! So if you want to ~ go visit Diana here and come back tomorrow for my entry :) PUMPKIN BARS....YUMMY

May the Lord bless you and keep you and cause His face to shine on you, may He turn his face towards you and give you Peace!

I know that for me I am ready to come to a skidding halt! That's how slow I want to be. I feel like God is telling me (and showing me) that if I don't strip myself clean that He's going to do it for me! It's as simple as that.

Loren,

What a blessing you are to me in my life! I just love your friendship and how you have become part of my family! Oh how I sit here at times and just wish that God would bring about a change in location and we would live right next door or is that too close?!

Still praying for your dad, that the right person delivers his all important message and then your relationship with your dad would be that much stronger and enhanced on completely different levels.

Much love and hugs coming your way. Stay warm tomorrow as the rain comes in and can't wait to get your recipe for pumpkin bars.

Glad to know that you had a great conversation with your dad. Me, too sister Loren, I think about how rushed every day is...I want to slow down and savor every moment, cherishing each moment with my family and the Lord...I haven't baked in a while, I have meatloaf in the oven right now for dinner. I saw the bananas over-riping. Maybe it's time to bake some banana bread. But your pumpkin bars sound so great and in season!!! Would love to come back for that special recipe :) Enjoy your time, slowing down things, enjoying every minute with what brings you joy! Have a great day sister and sending you hugs...Love you in Christ :)

As women, we tend to overdue in the thought process...just as much as we do in the physical. Busy-ness in and out and all around us - maybe He's leading you to a quieter inner self :)

I know I need the reminders from Him of this, very often and thankfully, He reminds me ;)

Love to you and comfort as you continue to heal.

I'm sure that our Most Awesome Father has your dad covered in all areas. Sometimes, the men in our lives just don't know how to share that deeper part of self...or even how to explain what it is they feel. I've had a long life of understanding guys and how they tick.

I know about the recurring message and I too sometimes just want to shout, "Okay, so I don't get it! Please tell me specifically what I'm missing!"

smooches,

Praising GOD for the opened door and open heart of your Dad. What a precious conversation time!

Rambling is often good for the soul...and we all need to slow down. GOD has a way of jerking me back to HIS reality for my life.

Blessings, hugs, and prayers, andrea

Being still and letting the body heal is one of the hardest things. I, too, am praying for your recovery and your Pop, too. I'm curious to see if your recipe for pumpkin bars is the same as mine. I'll be back tomorrow.

Love you!

I am thankful for the heart connection with your father. My life has been a whirlwind of sorts lately and I really need to slow down. I haven't blogged in over a week (other than the occasional Meme) and I am stressed about it. But I think the Lord wants my undivided attention! Have a blessed day tomorrow!

Denise

I love you dear, and you are in my prayers.
