This week has been probably one of the most Fun, most Exciting, and STRESS filled weeks we have had in a VERY LONG TIME! Suffice it to say it has also been a week that has kept us on our knees and close to the LORD.
We began by having the Big Birthday Celebration over the weekend and then have jumped into all of the Homecoming preparations! Jen has had meetings, decorations to do, radio interviews, newspaper pictures, walk thru practices, homecoming parade, pep rally, and then of course the coronation to attend on Friday, all of this and her regular schedule of school and training each day for football! I might add in here that this is HIGH SCHOOL and if your memories can go back to those days you might remember how crazy High School can be and the drama that plays out day after day.
I have felt the Lord prompting me to make sure and sit down each day with both kids and JUST LISTEN. To let them share their hearts, their thoughts, concerns or just whatever they wanted to share. To really HEAR them and then to lead them to either lay those concerns down at the foot of the cross or to remind them of who they are and how loved they are by the LORD and by us, their parents! That no matter what happens during the course of the day or in the days ahead they belong to Christ and HE loves and adores them! To slow down and think about Heavenly things & not allow the things or situations of this world to get us off track but to Praise God for the positions HE places us in and pray that we Shine for HIM in all things!
For me, my Simple Pleasure this week has been very simply sitting, listening and praying with my Children. I am soo very blessed to be a Stay At Home MOM... ordained by God to have days like these!
Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people Eph 6:7

Praying for God to continue to bless your dear family, love you.
OH I can't wait to hear all about this super fun day. It always amazes me the work that goes into something like that and then it seems over so quickly. Tell her to slow down and enjoy it all.
Big hugs to you my sweet girlfriend!
Kim
Amen. Don't you just love being home and available for the moments when the kids share their hearts? No greater blessing.
I always have to give about 30 minutes to the kids when they come home. I love to hear about their days & all the events & happenings. I am blessed to be here to listen.
can't wait to see Jenna!!
Oh Loren I LOVE this post. When Melody was in high school she and I had what we called "chew sessions" which really amounted more to her talking and talking AND talking and me listening to her spill her heart out about all that was going on. What she thought and felt about it. What her reaction might be to certain circumstances and people. I remember more than one occasion where she would wake me (shortly after I went to bed ~ I have always been an early to bed person, haha) and tell me that she just HAD to talk to me. I ALWAYS jumped right up knowing that the day would come all too soon when she would no longer seek me out. How I thank God for those days and those memories. Enjoy this time with your kids....I found (sometimes not till a LONG time later) that they listened MUCH more than you might think, haha....Good luck to your daughter for being the queen, though even just being in the court is HUGE....sooo fun for you both...HUGS, Debbie
Hey honey....I've got to say it is such a treat to share this exciting experience of Homecoming preparation. I'm filled with the jumping up and down anticipation of seeing my first born granddaughter in the parade today and then during the final coronation Friday evening. My Nanny face takes over & my eyes fill with tears when I see that lovely young lady who you & Brian have raised with such a solid, loving foundation. No matter the outcome of who wears the Homecoming crown, I know that this experience will be one she'll remember with joy and appreciation! XX OO Mom
Loren, what a wonderful simple pleasure, and one often taken for granted. Listening to our children is a joy, and sometimes requires quite the talent, if you know what I mean. :) Great simple pleasures post, as always.
Sorry about all of the hardships with getting this link to work today. Even after resubmitting it, there continued to be issues with the linky for some reason. But ... all's well that ends well. Thanks so much for joining us.
Such a beautiful treasure for sure to have those simple moments of time together. I've noticed lately how I enjoy hearing about Caleb's day and what has happened and to have him whisper something important in my hear. I've wondered what it will be like in 10 years. I pray he'll always want to come share with me about his day and life.
I really like the fall plaid colored background!
Another great simple. This week has been full of them.
Anytime we can just SIT and LISTEN to our kids and share the love of the Lord with them is wonderful.
Thanks for sharing!
I agree so much with what Dayle said above. That is a simple pleasure way too often taken for granted.
To spend time with your children, and to LISTEN to them, and most of all to PRAY with them is an ultimate simple pleasure.
A wonderful pleasure and a privilege, too. Bless you, my friend.
they're so blessed to have a precious mama like you. i'm sure you've got LOTS of stories to tell after this week! hope this whole weekend is so fun, goes smoothly and that wonderful memories are made that will never be forgotten.
love you, loren!!! <3
That is awesome...talking is so simple and yet so many families don't do it enough anymore.
Hugs,
Mimi
