Simple Pleasures ~

My friend Dayle has started this meme and I have enjoyed participating so very much! Here is why she started sharing her simple pleasures

Are you noticing the simple things lately? I started the Simple Pleasures series to remind me to stop, to look, to listen, to pay closer attention to the simple things in life. And whenever I do, I'm never disappointed. It might be the sound of a baby's laugh, the gentle splash of a summer rain against the window, or flowers in a jar on the kitchen windowsill. ~ Dayle

On Monday's post, I shared the word of the week would be HOT and I was right! Wow....Everday we have had triple digits and the heat index has been 115's or so!

This week, my simple pleasure is the sound of a fan...it just takes me back to my nanas house and the sound just brings me so much peace and is sooo relaxing... For this week though, it is not just enjoying the sound of the fan but also keeping us cool in this blazing heat!

I am so thankful for my Fans...I have one in every room now LOL ~ even in my bathroom! HA :)

Good Morning Loren, It has been sooooo hot! My husband and I both have fans by our computer desks. It makes a big difference. I hope your day is great.

Denise

Simple pleasures are the sweetest ones sis, love you.

That is a simple but necessary pleasure! LOL!
And gee, I may have blogged about the heat again myself. LOL!

Your Simple Pleasures is kind of like
my Gratitude List. Just reminders to
help us be ever thankful to our dear
Lord for all the ways He blesses us
daily.

The sound of a fan does bring back so many memories for me too. My parents still use a fan to sleep every night.
Hope it cools down for your all soon,
Hugs,

hahaha...you witty, wonderful, woman...you ♥ Love you, Loren :)

Debbie

YES! I was thinking about my fans just yesterday. I have one in the bathroom right by where I do the face and hair thing. At 48, let's just say I'm prone to needing a little fanning in DECEMBER... let alone August.

A fan is indeed a simple pleasure!

Debbie

Oh how true is this...I LOVE the sound of a fan. Can't tell you how much the sound of one soothes me and puts me to sleep, haha...I have a new ceiling one in my bedroom. I LOVE LOVE it. It's perfect and keeps me cool. Have a wonderful day and keep cool...115??!! WOW..

Kathy C.

I love the hum of a fan too! I can only imagine how much more they would make me smile if it was that hot here!!!! Yikes girl! Stay inside. :)
Thank you for being a sweet blessing in my life Loren, you are a true gift. :)

Patti

Even in the winter, we run fans at night...just for the "white noise." Of course, we turn them to face the wall.

And isn't it funny...when I was growing up in the 60's and 70's, fans were the ONLY way we cooled our house in the summer. Most homes didn't have A/C then. Now, I can't imagine relying only on fans. I guess we all have become more wimpy through the years.

Have a lovely day,
Patti (Fill My Cup with Beauty)

You brought a smile to my face this morning talking about your Nana & the sound of a fan on a hot summer's day. When your Aunt Nette & I were little girls we would go to sleep to the hum of a fan as it tried so hard to cool us off. No air conditioning, windows open, and your Nana wiping the sweat from her brow & the back of her neck - can't you just see her???

Such a great reminder, sister, to be thankful for the "simple pleasures." I love that. When we are filled with thankfulness . . . it is nearly impossible to be overcome by discouragment, despair, sorrow, emptiness, and loneliness. When we acknowledge God in EVERYTHING . . . we are certain to find Him. When we seek Him . . . we will find Him. He is ever faithful.
Love to you,
Cherie

Ah, Loren ... you've posted a perfect simple pleasure that is near and dear to my heart. I cannot sleep without the soothing hum of a fan close by. Love this! (I went in and edited your link to be just your permalink, so future readers can find this perfect simple pleasures post whenever they click on it.) Thanks so much for linking up today.

i MUST have a fan throughout the day...b/c of my 'hormone' fun.

Saleslady371

And don't forget the fan you have in your computer....me. I love you!

When we were kids, we would sit with our faces just inches away from the front grill, sing into the box fan and get this weird vibrating noise. I'm sure we drove Mom nuts, but it was so entertaining! Thanks for the goofy memory! Today, rather than grumbling about cleaning, I am going to be grateful that I have a house to clean. Have a wonderful day!!!

Rachel Renee

Oh yes! I have one going right now! :) I love having a fan going in my room in the cellar, where it is much cooler!

Stacey

I have fans going all day long! Even in the winter time. Can't sleep without them. I even take a fan when we go camping!

I am thankful for ceiling fans especially--makes everything so much nicer. But the sound of a regular fan is quite nice!

Hi dear friend, So sorry you are having such a heat wave; we haven't had it that bad and are trying to keep the a/c off but have ceiling fans in the living room and in our master.
Wish we could sit and enjoy a very cold smoothie together...or go for a swim.
Have a blessed afternoon.
Hugs, Noreen

Loren,

I love this and yes, it's true I remember keeping a fan in my window at night. Something soothing about the hum of the fan and the cool breeze it would blow in to cool the room down.

WOW I can't believe it's been that hot where you are at...Yikes, praying some ocean breezes are headed your way and it brings much cooler temps soon.

Love and Hugs ~ Kat

Stay cool sister! And hydrated!!! I pray that cooler days are headed your way...God bless.

Wow! Now I am wracking my brain to try to think of the most simple pleasures--

Yes, we set a new record of 107 one day this week with heat index up around 120--it is unbearable so I have been running a fan also. We have one in almost every room.

Thanks for the reminder about the simple pleasures of life--

I guess my most favorite would be my quiet time alone with the Lord in the mornings--so simple I couldn't live without it.

Love you,
stay cool--
Dianne

Beth Herring

oh, i am right there with you sister! we actually had a cool front today and it was only 103! haha!

i love the simple pleasures meme. will try and join next week.

Rachel Renee

Hi Loren,
I wanted to let you know that I'm starting a new meme on Monday called "Something Beautiful". It highlights beauty in everyday life. You are more than welcome to join if you'd like. (But I know you're busy, so no pressure! If you want to, I'd love to have you! :)
